2-3 is flaring up and slow at the track?
The car shifts pretty good when on motor but when I'm on the bottle at the track it is taking forever to complete the 2-3 shift and sometimes hitting the rev limiter. It's a heads/cam 150 rwhp shot 99 camaro, 3.73 gears. I adjusted a few things but nothing has helped, can someone take a look and see if there is anything else I can do! It's a level 2 tranny from a site sponser.

every time I have seen the flare up personally, part of the tranny was on the way out, clutches over running the drum if I recall correctly. Every one of those people decided to keep on them until they broke rather than pulling them early too, and it cost them all more $$ in the long run. Best of luck.

Could I adjust my fmc tables a little, I see my last row is at complete bleed off, this table is supposed to be left stock with a shift kit correct? What about base pressure? Also my car will not shift at wot in the Drive selection, only in Overdrive will it shift 2-3 at WOT, what can cause this? I only have a little under 500 miles on this new built transmission!

Nothing was changed in the tune before and after the new transmission, the last transmission shifted fine under WOT 2-3 in the D position, the new one will not and it flares up before it shifts, I had a new transmission that lost the 3-4 shift so the sponser sent me a new one, I never changed anything in the tune and after break in it would only shift 2-3 at WOT in overdrive, but it shifted slow. I am just asking if anything in the tune can and should be adjusted to make the shift happen faster, if not it must be a mechanical problem. The builder thinks its a tuning problem but like I said nothing changed, Thanks for looking.

Best of luck either way. I have seen this from 3 different 60s; it always started as a flare up at the 2-3 shift, the owners still drove hard/raced on them and then they began to fail to shift 2-3 at WOT, they'd hit the limiter and not shift until the pedal was lifted. After a few passes/pulls like this, the car's lost a few gears when trying to drive.

Thanks alot frost I was hoping to hear from you about this, I posted over on hp tuners but got no response, thanks for your time. Do you happen to know what failed, what was causing these trannies to do this?

I was trying to remember earlier, but it's been about year since the last time... something like the clutch packs for 3rd gear in these built trannies (oh yeah, forgot they were all "built" trannies) had an extra clutch and steel band or 2, but the retaining ring that holds them back that came with the build kits was thinner than the OE retainer and must have given or flexed, the clutches and steels were pushed past it on their drum. This was in at least 2 of them, never heard what happened with the second one, seems like the owner yanked it for a th400.

If I can't get this resolved with the builder that is what I will be doing, .6 seconds on 1-2 shift and .8 seconds on 2-3 shift is costing me alot of time, I think it actually is taking alot longer than .8 for 2-3.
