Default How to check EGR

I'm having an idle problem with my 2000 T/A. When i'm stopped at a light (auto trans) the idle is smooth for about the first 5 seconds then it gets a little rough. Other than at idle it runs good. I'm thinking maybe the egr is stuck open a bit and some hot air is getting in. I searched around for any How To's on the egr but didn't find any. I had the injector service about 1.5 years ago and changed the fuel filter last month. Do i just unbolt it ? What should i look for ?

Thanks

Make sure the passages are clear and free of any build up, in order to test it you need to know what type of egr it is, im not sure which one is on a 2000..... you need a vacuum pump to test it out..... if its electronic you'll need a scanner to open and close it and check operation
