Default 95 trans am a/c turns off by itself??

My 1995 Trans Am air conditioner works very well when it wants to. The compressor will turn on and then shut off all of a sudden. I think maybe a relay is getting hot or worn and does not allow the compressor to stay on. Please help.

Possibly low on charge would be where I would start.

Agreed... If it's low it will kick on and off, you could have a leak. They put dye in the system and a light to look for them.
