At night time i can faintly see the numbers that's why I'm confused. But it has to be pitch black in order to barely see them but they still change numbers the more miles I put on the clock. Anybody know of a part number for it?

For 93-99 cars, there's thirteen different possible instrument clusters. There's about five more for export cars. 00-92 cars have a few more. None of these have a piece that can be replaced.
So, what year is your Firebird? V6? Trans-Am?
These people will fix it for you. They do all the work for GM dealerships: http://www.modelelectronics.com/index.asp

HMMM, it works for me and I'm in the dark ages with IE 6. Trying to help ya here so I've put a screen shot of it on my photobucket. There are few who can repair these clusters, gone are the days of spinning magnets in cups attached to a speedo cable. Good luck!

I had the same thing on my '98 TA. Ran like that for a couple of years, installed some really low springs, bottomed out one day and voila, it lit up! My radio display was out as well and it came back too. Unfortunately they both went dark again soon after. I would get a glimpse every once and a while, and when the sun was just right I could read the odometer. I never found out how to fix it though. The most common thought was a bad ground somewhere, people said it could even be as far away as the tail lights since F-Body electrical systems are sketchy. Good luck with it, and please post your progress on a fix as I'd like to help the guy who bought my car with a fix.
