HPP Magazine new project TA
Follow along here with a new build of a 1999 Trans Am being put together by HPP magazine.
This car is a unique sort of late model build for a magazine car in the sense that it's already modified considerably. LS1 F bodies now are approaching 15 years old, and as is the case with many late model muscle cars, they often were modified while still under warranty.
This car is one that while remaining fairly low mileage (91K for a 1999 = barely 7K miles per year) it was modified right from the start and had a well-excersised path through life Now while the F-body platform died in 2002, the enthusiasm lives on through the ever expanding backwards-compatible technology being developed for the newer Gen-IV cars. The plan here is to re-mod the car with currently available technology piece by piece, to show the gains available when upgrading outdated speed parts.
The mod list for this car includes:
Direct-Flo lid w K+N filter
MTI (Houston) T1 cam (221/221 .558/.558 112)
Comp 941 springs
MAC midlength headers w ORY
Hooker cat-back exhaust
BMR boxed subframe connectors
Stage 2 built T56 trans
RAM clutch
Pro-5.0 shifter
WS6 replica hood
GM WS6 wheels
The first round of modifications are engine external, and in preparation for things to come. First up: Some nitrous from ZEX's new universal "Blackout" series for LS powered cars., an LS2 intake (just for the 4 bolt TB opening) , and FAST's 102mm TB.

We have a lot planned for the car so stay tuned. Also, there will be more coming with my ’05 GTO. I'm very excited that this is happening and I look forward to the response from members on LS1tech and other LS sites.
