Little black box
Anyone out there have any idea what the little black box about 1=1/2" sq. under the dash mounted up and to the left of the clutch pedal with a 14 or 12 ga.yellow and a brown wire is? Looks like some sort of relay possibly. Wish I could describe it better. Only has the two wires plugged into it.

Pictures? Could it be aftermarket?

This is the best pic I could get, pretty cramped there. Is it the safety/neutral switch? It was jumpered, I took out the jumper and plugged the harness back in, now the car won't start.

It sounds like it might be your clutch safety switch. I'm betting it was jumpered-out because it went bad and didn't allow the engine to crank. Now that you've reconnected it, the original problem returned (engine won't crank unless this switch is closed by depressing the clutch pedal).

See the GM Service Manual -
Page 8A-30-0 Yel / Brn = Clutch Pedal Position (CPP) switch (aka - "Clutch Start Switch" in GM-speak).
Do NOT get a non-GM replacement - they are total junk. I busted three in three days; paid the 15% extra, got a real GM unit, issue resolved.
So, the reason the car will not start is that your VATS system needs power on that Brn wire to trip the Anti-Theft Relay.
Jumper that 2-Pin conector untill you get a new CPP switch.
