Random unplugged connector! Can't find it's purpose

Default Random unplugged connector! Can't find it's purpose

I was working on my 1998 Trans am earlier removing a broken ashtray door and ashtray and I noticed that in the hole under there sort of above the transmission is a black connector just in there and I can't find where it plugs in all it says is ped 1 and has brown wire, brown with white, purple with white, black with white. I can't post pics off my shotty phone

Just guessing here since I don't know if your car is a coupe or 'vert, A4 or M6, but it could be a connector for the TCS switch, top switch (if its a 'vert), lighting for the shifter indicator (if its an A4) / ashtray. Take your pick.

Do you notice anything that you think should be working or illuminated? Could just be an extra plug for an option your car doesn't have on it.

Most likely the TCS plug. All cars had the wiring but non-TCS cars did not use it since it was not equipped.

Its for the traction control defeat button. Since your car doesn't have traction control its unused.
