Default New ls1

I just got stationed in north Carolina and I just bought a 2000 trans am ws6 6speed. I'm not too familiar with the ls1 or emission laws(if any). What is there I can do to get the most hp without having to remove heads or the intake. I work a pretty tight schedule. Oh and any suggestions on oil. By the way the car has 130k miles. Thank you

NORTH Carolina is emissions through visual and computer only, no pipe sniffer

Whats that component on the left side of the tb as you're looking at it? I've never seen that. I had a lt1 before and a carb car

Its on the left as if youree facing the engine from the front of the car. I thought it was part of the ac system but. From what it looks like, I'm wrong.

That is the egr/air system on the passenger side cylinder head right? It has a hose running to the intake manifold.

I believe so, I can't look at it right now because I'm at work. But I'm pretty sure that's it. I've heard sea foam is bad for your car, if it's true. Is there another way to clean the internals out?

Don't worry about using a product to do that, just run shell gas or Exxon gas, good 93 octane fuel.

I have 263,000 miles on my car, I do not use any of this. Your car is using its factory EGR and probably still has stock PCV set up, even if you do clean it, it will get dirty right away.

EGR takes the exhaust gas and pulls it into the intake manifold when you are decelerating. (Exhaust Gas Recirculation)

When on full throttle the PCV is pulling air into the intake manifold to relieve pressure inside the crank case. Which is what keeps gaskets like rear main from blowing out.

The design from factory allows this PCV design to pull the air from the top of the valve cover and it does occasionally pull oil with it and goes into the intake manifold, and consequently the combustion chamber.

These are not problematic just a nuisance. You should just run nice clean 93 octane. No mom and pop gas stations that scare you.

All a matter of money and what you want to spend.
There are under drive pulleys. (Sfi approved)
Headers,
Cat less Y pipe
Any intake manifold like ls6 or FAST will require egr delete 9 times out of 10
(Any fast requires a matching MM throttle body)
I would get SLP intake lid, if you don't have a 2 inch lower air box, with a spectre air filter or KN filter both are equal
Ported throttle body (I have a POTZ ebay one, may be worth 2 wheel HP, but throttle response is good)
There is always weight reduction,
Rear end gearing.
And there is more others will know, those are just some similar to mine.

After all mods are complete, I would plan on getting a dyno tune
Here is NC we have mayhem motorsports, RPM, PCM of NC and many more
This would be absolutely last modification

Do you have a specific budget that you are trying to keep it under? Lastly, what transmission are you running and what is the intended usage for the car?

My monthly budget is about 500. Do I need a cat in this State? I don't know if it has the t56... Not so sure. What are the good performance chips/tuners can I get?

You need a visual cat,
if you have 6 speed it's t56,
a place will tune your car for 400 which is better than buying a tuner, I mentioned them above. Are you stationed at Bragg?

Cam shaft would definitely warrant taking off the heads.
Never run a cam without: lifters, push rods and changing the springs in the heads.
Stock lifters would eventually fail
Stock springs would immediately fail
And a cam dyno tune is 500$

Cam shaft would make the car fast and all around fun, even better with a rear gear

I was thinking about it, not too sure about which cam or how much it'll cost. Let alone the time it takes. But it makes a good difference compared to just bolt ons

Just make sure to do a lot of research and take time deciding. I did 8 months to finish my bolt on build because I am methodical. Didn't want to make any mistakes.

Modifications cost time and money. I couldn't stress enough to do a lot of research and learn these cars.

Either front or rear is broken, put on left blinker and see which one is just ON
The opposite side bulb is blown

It can't be that it just doesn't blink but stays on?
