WS6 production question...

WS6 production question...
Does anyone remember how long it took for a WS6 to get built?
What I mean is this... The cars were assembled in Ste. Therese, but shipped out with regular twistie wheels and flat hood. They went from the GM plant to ASC, and got converted... and then went back to Ste. Therese where they got shipped off to the distributors for sale.
How long did that process take?
I'm just curious because I've been trying to research this whole rumor that they only built BPM cars for 3 days of the '98 model year... my Formula was built September 12th. 1997... my WS6 was invoiced for delivery on 2/2/98.
Would it have taken 5 months for it to get converted at ASC and returned to Ste Therese?

Actually, the cars slated for WS6 conversion were shipped to ASC with the 17" wheels and the flat hood. There was an article on the St. Therese f-body assembly plant in either GMHTP or HP Pontiac a few years ago. A few of the pics in the article show the "pre-WS6" cars. Now that I think about it, I think it was HP Pontiac.
I also have a few pics that I downloaded from a 30th Anniv. site that shows the plant and a few of the cars.
I'll look through my mags this evening, and if I find it I'll post about it.

Here is the article from HP Pontiac that I mentioned above. It's from the November 2001 issue. To answer your question, it says that it took ASC about 30 minutes to do the WS6 conversion. ASC transformed 45 to 50 'birds a day (info from gray box on link #4). So that 3 day rumor seems to be just that...a rumor.

Well, I don't think it's even a rumor... I think it's something that was made up by someone, who that person is god only knows.
I am working on getting the build date on my Trans Am right now... it would have to have been built around Sept 12th for that story to be true.
