Default curb weight

So I got the production sheet for my '02 T/A from the dealer and it says that it weighs 4290lbs!? Is that accurate? If thats true than it weighs more than my old '05 GTO which doesn't make any sense to me.

Isn't that the Gross Vechicle Weight (the max it is designed to be)?

IIRC, T/A's are basically 3500lbs.

That's the wrong info they gave you. 3397 (hatchback) - 3514 (convertible) is the shipping weight as stated by the Standard Catalog of Firebird by John Gunnell.

Yea it's gross weight. My sticker on my door says a similar weight. I didn't know what gross weight was but my registration says wayyyyy less than the door does, somewhere in the mid 3k's. I have a 98' Trans Am by the way.

Thanks for the info guys! Ya it did say gross weight I was starting to wonder how in the hell my car could be that heavy considering its a hatchback and has a M6. I guess I will just go weigh it one day and find out exactly how much it weighs.
