Default Trans Am Question

Im looking into buying this trans am. let me start out by telling you about the car. Its a 1998 trans am, it has 89k miles, automatic, no ram air hood z06 replica rims with goodyear zrated tires, and a LS1 performance lid. The guy wants 9,000 but said he would take 8700. The car looks and runs almost perfect the engine idles smooth and makes no noise's. and The interior is mint. I can only find 1 flaw with this vehicle and it is the oil psi gauge. When you first start the engine up it idles cold at a little over 40psi, driving and under full throttle it will be be at about 1/8 past 40psi. When its warm and idling the gauge jumps back and forth between 20and 40 psi really fast, when you rev it and it will jump to a little over 40psi and stay there until it drops back down to idle. Is this just the gauge going bad, oil pump going bad or what. Im just wanting to know if this is something to be worried about and if you guys think the PSI on a stock gauge looks to be about where it should be, i realize the stock gauge isn't 100% correct. Is there anything i should check the car for before i buy it, other than the usual? Thanks in advance.

**edit**
to better describe what the gauge is doing its like a quick random pulse.

You need to get that car PROFESSIONALLY inspected before purchase if you are going to pay that kind of money for a 9 year old car that will have 100,000 miles on it in a years time. The gauge is probably the problem but you don't need to be laying out big money in the future. Good luck!
