Default 70's T/A ?

Dose any one know any thing about putting the front clip from a 70-73 Trans Amon a 78-79 Trans am. I was on a web sight where I saw a 75 that had a 70 front end. I am thinking that 75 was the first year of the style that they had clear in to 81. I could be wrong though.

But if the early clip will fit dose it bolt right up or dose it requires some modification to the car. I think it would be a cool project and any help would be appreciated.

`70-`72 noses are the same `73 is similar but was changed slightly due to new bumper regulations. `74-75 are the same,`76 is similar to `74-5 nose but uses a seperate bumper cover and is also the last year for round headlights. 77-78 are the same, and `79 -81 are the same.

I beleive it's possible to mount an early nose to a late car but some of the mouning tabs on the fenders were changed over the years particularly around the lower valance which was eliminated after `75.

To each their own but personally I wouldn't swap noses cause I think the car should be representative of it's original year. JMO

Hope I could help
Good Luck

And around where the inner fender bolts to the outer fender. High Performance Pontiac magazine did a 3 issue series on the body differances of the 2nd gens in 05/06. I was going to do the same thing to a 76 I had, but couldn't find all the parts needed.
