What year did 400 BB have valley pan under the intake? And are all 400 BB lifters the same

Are you talking about the 400 Pontiac?
Because I'm pretty sure they all have valley pan covers...
Lifters should all be the same, yes, but I wouldn't recommend reusing them...

Yes pontiac 400.

I am asking for a friend I work with. He was told that 72 - 75 didn't come with the valley pan and the 67-71's did. and he just wanted to know if all lifter were the same for the 400BB. He has a 69 and the guy he bought it from said it had a 400.

I've built three 400's, one was a 71, one was a 76, and I think the last was a 73. They all had the tray.
The lifters, I am pretty sure are the same, BUT.. like I said.. I really wouldn't reuse them.

Never seen a Pontiac V8 that didn't have a Valley pan.
And always buy new lifters esp. when your talking abot flat tappet stuff.
