Headlight Keeps Spinning - Look Inside
Hey guys,
I've been having trouble with this damn headlight ever since I bought the car. It's really pathetic on how awful the design is. First my headlight was getting jammed yesterday, so i kept messing with it. Next thing I know i turn off the headlights and hear the sound of, a nut falling, or metal contact. I quickly look expecting the nut for the arm to be gone.. But it's still there? Now my headlights go UP AND DOWN UP AND DOWN about 5 times until they stop half way up. The smashing sound isn't very comforting.

Apparently my "stop" has broken off, which was that sound I heard. Lovely..
Anyone ever fix this or can explain how to fix this a little better?
I can more and more pissied with these headlights every day

Not motor related.
Its the bump stop for the arm, I've searched numerous times and cannot find the part number or real name for it. One of mine fell off and I got the same result as you, I just rigged up a replacement with a piece of plastic and some glue, been working fine for a long time now.
Attached picture below of one of the two stock pieces per headlight (one to stop comming up, and one to stop going down). Its the yellowish piece, not the white headed screw.
edit: Found more pictures:
(ignore the arrow, its the two yellow pieces Im talking about)

Yeah I actually realized that was the problem earlier after I "investigated" what was going on. My arm actually shaved down the stops over time so now it just passes by them. I'll either have to:
Bend the arm so it hits the stops.
Add onto the stops with something
Drill a hole and put a bolt to simulate the stop

I just took a piece of hose that was small enough to slide onto the end of the arm itself.
Seems to have stopped my issue with it hitting the bumpstop and binding when going up.
Unfortunately it does appear the brass gear also bent the down-stop as well, but I haven't experienced any issues there yet.
