Default Looking at buying a Gto. Couple of issues with the car I found.

I found the GTO I want. It has 75k miles. There's a couple of issues with the car that has me worried.

The Carfax shows the car had 15,000 miles in 2008 and 15,000 miles in early 2014, but four months later it shows 75,000 miles. Would this scare you from buying the car?

I'm also told that the shifter is bent at the top. He says its minor and only costs $70 and one bolt to replace. Its an automatic. Is this true?

Thanks for any help.

That sounds a bit fishy, I would personally keep looking. You might have to drive a good distance to find a clean goat.

Need to figure out why Carfax says that. They screw up more than people would imagine. Could be just an inspection dude wrote the wrong mileage down. That has happened to me on one of my cars I bought. He read the tenths as miles and caused the mileage shown to be way out of whack.

agreed about looking into carfax, My father had a nissan murano he wanted to trade in for an infiniti fx50. The deal got stalled because the carfax said the last oil change mileage was 315xxx when the car only had 31k on it. Because somebody made a typo at a service shop they thought we were trying to trade a car with that had been tampered with as they put it.

there are good and bad things about carfax in that instance.

Im pretty much in the same boat too, found the perfect GTO i want but car fax shows mileage inconsistency for the vehicle.

In 06/05/2008=44,536 (Listed as a dealer vehicle sold at auction) 05/07/2009=84,812 (ok obviously a typo I assume). 07/17/2009=72,588 (Who drives 28,052 miles in one year, is that unheard of or very plausable???)

So, a full-grown Bull Elephant was driving this car, and not realizing his own strength, bent the shifter.
