For that price you can get into a 5th gen SS. WHICH is a much better car than the GTO.
That's your skewed opinion. The GTO is a much nicer riding car and it has a rarity that Mustangs and fbodies don't.

That's true, but only if people care about the rare factor. I was willing to sacrifice that along with comfort to get a fbody in order to race it with a more plentiful and cheaper aftermarket.

I appreciated the rarity factor, not that I live in a big city but I have only seen one or two others on the road, but no black ones.

Iv'e road in my fare share of high end cars, and given the options its a really great bang for the buck. The insurance is an issue though as regardless of what happens it will likely be totaled.

Putting a good head unit in it really modernizes the interior as well

I miss the old day's when cars got old and cheap. Now day's everyone thinks their old car is rare and expensive. It's a 10 year old Pontiac it's not rare and it will be years if ever before they are a "collector car". Right now it's a old Pontiac that should have a way cheaper price than they are currently fetching. The market is way over inflated for what it is and you can find GTO's all over the place now the clean low milers will be getting more scarce but as a whole you will be able find GTO's for years to come.
A Enzo or a F450 Italia's rare not a mass produced GM vehicle.

they have actually gone down in price since I last looked (i got mine last year) late 2010 they were still the high teens to mid 20's. Dealer was ask 16,900 for mine 06 manual 52k.

Rarity doesnt exactly have to be related to price, but for a mass produced car they were made in pretty low number. Not compared to a Ferrari which caps yearly production to 7,000 cars which I think is divided between the models produced of that year.

I think the total number of GTO's made in the 3 years they were offered was just under 41,000. Seems like a big number but in 2006 there were around 34,000 corvettes produced. Thats just one year of a high end sports car that not everyone can afford from the same time frame. You do see a lot more vettes on the road than you do GTO's so again there is not a lot of them out there for a mass produced car.

Not sure how many g8's were made though and they only had a 2 year run, so I would assume less than the GTO but you still see quite a few of them compared to the old goat.

How many GTOs are left is the bigger question... I have seen quite a few smashed ones.

They are great cars. The seats are great for long trips. I may be a bit biased lol. There are deals out there, trust me.
