dont put DR's on your 18's put them on the stock 17's. You would need to roll the fenders to fit an 18" DR, and they only make a few sizes. Just get a 275/40/17 ET Street Radial.

You'll get better traction using the 17s too.

295's are possible with the right tire, offset and fender lip rolling/trimming. I had 285-35 18's and now I have 275-40-17's and am going to 16's for more sidewall.
Already trimmed the inner fender lip for more room.

Mickey Thompson is releasing a new drag radial size that might be perfect: 265/40/18.

its worth it though if your heading for the track...i put slicks on my stock 17's (MT ET street Bias ply 26x11.5x17) and they work awesome...dead hook from 4500rpm but dont think about cruising around on the streets with this tire...track only!

I Might Be A Dumb *** But How Will You Fit A Wider Tire On That Rim. I Didnt Think You Could Do That. It Would Seem That The Tire Would Be Hanging Off The Side Of The Rim If Your Going From A 245/45/17 To A 275 On A Stock Wheel. So People Have Them And It Works?

depending on the manufacturer of the tire the overall width will vary...nitto's run fairly small so a 275 nitto might be more comperable to a 265 BFG etc etc. 275's fit fine on a stock 17" GTO rim because the extra sizewall of the 17 allows the tire more room to contour to the rim. def not the optimal setup for everyday driving but it does work. 18's are a different story all together...they have less sidewall so they're already not the best rim for drag racing. 17's are cheap enough its really the way to go (for cost effectiveness)

You really don't want to run DR's for everyday street for a ton of reasons. The most important is that DRs cause mad wheel hop on an unprepped street surface. Most of the guys who run them on the street use them wisely. They grab and release and if ur not smart about it ur looking at a 1700 stub to hub rebuild.

Let's not forget about your sub zero chicago winters. Ever driven a DR in the rain?

Get a nice sticky sub 300 treadwear tire in 245/40/18. The Nitto NT555 might work. You really shouldn't go wider than that with such a low aspect on an 8". If you do, you'll heat up that tire but good.

Changing a tire with a floor jack and a quad wrench will take 10 minutes max. Do yourself a favor and put 2 Nitto DR's on the back with ur 17s like I told ya back in july.

ILL KEEP THAT IN MIND BRO. THANKS. I NEED TIRES ON THE REAR SO MAYBE I WILL GO WITH A LITTLE WIDER TIRES. YOU KNOW THEY SHOULD HAVE A BIG FLAG POP OUT FROM UNDERNEATH THE CAR WHEN YOU LOOSEN THE LUGNUTS ON THE CAR SAYING DONT ROTATE YOUR TIRES UNLESS YOU PLAN ON DISMOUNTING THE TIRES ON THE OPPOSITE RIMS. YEAH JUST A REGULART ROTATE ENDED UP TAKING ME ABOUT AN HOUR TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHY I HAD SO MUCH ROAD NOISE WITH THE SMELL OF RUBBER. ONE THING I WILL MISS ABOUT MY T/A. YOU CAN ROTATE THE EFFEN TIRES!!!
