Default Tire Suggestions

So... we cooked the slicks last weekend and are now on a quest for suitable replacements that won't break the bank and won't slide all over the place. What tires do you use? Would you suggest them to someone else? if it makes a difference, the size I'm running is 275-40-17 and my "foul weather" tire set is Continental Extreme DW.

NT01s. Relatively cheap, survive on the street, fairly sticky even when cool, and are said to resist greasing out. When Discount Tire was running their $100 off $400 sale, I was able to get two 275s shipped to my door for $330.

I've always had good luck with take off A6's A lot of the guys in my region practice and qualify on A6's and race on R6's Usually 3-5 heat cycles when they dump them. For Street tires, I'm switching over to Rivals.

The Hoosiers are generally faster. At first. But they fall off a bit quicker. And the A6's will be the fastest, but not last nearly as long.

I like the Kumho V710's a lot. They are a little bit slower than the Hoosier's. But they are more consistent through their life. They don't loose much time as they heat cycle out. And they last a lot longer. And they're cheaper.

I didn't like the BFG R1's. They're a very hard tire with a stiff side wall. I have a light weight car, and it caused it to bounce around a lot.

I'm not sure as much for track days because typically I autocross, but I would say V710, R6, R7, or BFG R1 or R1S seem to take the most heat abuse while having great grip.

A lot of people in my area that run COMSCC run the Nt-01 and say they are the best for the price and closest in grip to A6 or similar. Though they have never been ran on a heavier car yet. I would be curious how the results are.

well, after a lot of back and forth, I ended up with Hoosier R7s, pre-heat-cycled, from Tire Rack. We'll see how they do at Road America this weekend.
