That camshaft is pretty versatile. You could use it with either really. I would probably recommend it more for a positive displacement, but it would make good power with a centrifugal.

For your turbo application, You might have a look at these two turbo cams that we make:

Hydraulic Roller 220/224 115+5 .587"/.578" Grind #XA220/345-XA224/340-115+5

and

Hydraulic Roller 224/228 116+5 .595"/.587" Grind #XA224/350-XA228/345-116+5

On of these could be an excellent choice for your combo. PM me if you want to discuss it further.

No worries. Wish the buyer all the best with his new cam
I PMd you about the compatibility of the 232/232 .604"/.595" 117+4 as an alternative.

Waiting for a recommendation.

If you were starting from scratch on a new build it would be a different story.
Thanks for the honest opinion.

I think u spec'd be a slightly smaller cam. But I'm interested in the 222/232 .587"/.587" 120+2

i I have a stock 99 5.3 that's centrifigual supercharged to about 12psi currently on the stock 150k motor. I'm swapping to light/medium ported 862 heads with Howard beehives good for .600" lift, morel 3515 lifters, straub bushed rockers, stock truck intake, SS long tube headers into 4" merge reduced to 3" summit catback. Trans is a 2004R built to 800hp, billet 2400/2600 stall converter. It's a street only car so I want a great idle, lots of power down low and I don't plan on spinning above 6000/6500 max on stock rods. Needs to have s stockish idle at like 600-700rpms and drive well between 2000-2800 rpm cruising with the converter locked. 3bolt cam with sensor at the rear of block. Supercharger is maxed out pulley wise, just looking for another 150hp with the cam/heads.

How will the 222/232 .587"/.587" 120+2 cam work?

Based on the driving and performance characteristics that you expressed to me, I don't think the 222/232 120+2 would be a good choice for you at all. That camshaft could be used with a positive displacement supercharger, but I don't think you would like it with your centrifugal and desired power curve.

I think I recommended to you a custom 214/226 116+5. The next step up from there is our 220/234 115+5 centrifugal blower cam.

Feel fee to PM me if you want to discuss it further.

~Steven

What is the difference between the two different alloys?
What would be the lowest recommended highway cruise RPM of the 212/218 .553"/.553" 113+2 cam in a 5.3?

Ken

That camshaft will drive just like stock. So you could cruise down the highway at 1500 RPM if you want.

That camshaft will work nice in your Escalade. Will drive great and should pick up about 35-40 horse.

Alright Ill jump in here. Anything left that would play nicely in an iron block 6.2, 243 heads, 11:1 ish compression in an 01 ss m6. No boost in the future, maybe spray and more than likely a new rear end with 3.73-4.10 gearing depending on cam. Street driven sometimes to work and on the weekends, little bit of track time.

Thanks!

There are two you might like depending on exactly what you are looking for:

234/240 .629/.621 111+3 - This is a very aggressive camshaft with a heavy lope at idle. It will make great power, want to be shifted at about 6600-6800 RPM and love those 4.10 gears. It will buck at low RPM in a stick shift car. So, slow traffic and parking lots might be annoying in a stick shift car. This is for the guy who cares more about performance than good manners.

LLR 228/236 .612"/.595" 114+4 - This is a LLR solid roller camshaft. It will require adjustable rocker arms to use this camshaft. This camshaft is a great all around street performance grind. Power everywhere and pretty good manners with a milder type performance idle.

Any concern with PTV clearance issues with the 234/240? Not really worried about the slow speed drivability issues, and also not really interested in running adjustable rockers for a solid roller cam.

Thanks for the quick response!

This camshaft will have sufficient piston-to-valve clearance in an LS1,LS2,LS6 engine with cathedral port heads as long as the heads have not been milled and/or a thinner than stock head gasket has been used. If you have milled the heads more than a .005" cleanup pass, I would want to make you something different.
