Default Bone stock LS1 RX7 track results

Well the first night of shake down passes was a success. I got to the track at about 6:30 and got the ET estreets put on, it was pretty dead so I knew I was gonna get a lot of runs in for a friday night. I got 5 runs in total but I never sprayed it at all. All my runs were solely on the motor (all throttle no bottle) and I still have an exhaust leak so the car was running very rich. Plus the DA last night all night was right around 3200 feet so the air quality sucked. Oh yeah I didnt use the transbrake either so I think there is a lot of 60ft inprovement capable too.

Back to the runs. 1st run I had the trans in 2nd to do my burnout and forgot to shift out of 2nd at the lights (I wanted to let the trans shift on its own at 5500rpm the first few passes to get a feel for the car) so I banged the rev limiter for a long time until I realized what was going on and shifted into 3rd. That run I posted a miserable 13.6 @103 but a 1.75 60ft.

Next run my line lock didnt hold so I got a shitty burn out and spun badly off the line only getting a 1.95 60 foot and ran a 12.7 @109.1. The run felt ok but I spun real bad at the line so I was frustrated.

Third run of the night I got a good burnout using the brake not the line lock and so the car hooked better and I ended up running a 12.35 @111.9 with a 1.75 60 foot. I was pretty happy I got in the low 12's but this was still letting the trans shift on its own at 5500rpm so I knew there was more in it.

Fourth run I decided to shift my self and see if I could get close to the 11's. Good burn out and I 60 footed 1.72 so the launch felt good (the 1-2 shift has to be by my trans no matter what because if I put it into 1st that is what engages my transbrake). 330ft @5.03 and I banged third at 6000 rpm. 1/8th in 7.79 and I shifted into 4th at 6000rpm right after the 1000ft and ran a 12.18 @ 113.9376. I was stoked but frustrated the 11's were so close yet so far away.

Last run of the night I told myself shift high, launch her as hard as you can and leave it in 3rd to cross the traps. Here is a breakdown of my final run.

RT 0.6627 (on a .5 tree not bad)
60ft 1.7129
330ft 5.0062
1/8 7.7150
1/4 ET 11.9391
1/4 MPH 114.3386

Needless to say I was pretty stoked to get into the 11's on a BONE STOCK LS1 motor without spraying. With some good air and some work on my launch and fixing the exhaust leak I think I could squeek out possibly a 11.7 on the motor alone but that is pure guess.

A few more weeks with some shakedowns then I am gonna spray it and see if I can get in the 10's with a 120 shot. Damn I need a Heads/Cam package and I could be in the 10's deep all motor. Any sponsors want to step up and sponsor a LS1 powered RX7? I promise it gets TONS of attention and your money would be well spent!!

BTW the car weighs around 2750 without me in it and has 4.1 rear, ET Streets, Shaner TB, 200-4r trans with a SS3800E and a Bone stock LS1 (for now)

Nice runs man. 11 on a stock ls1 is very cool.

What track were you running at?

Good luck to ya. With more practice you should be able to hit mid 11's.

I think you have 11.5s in that combo with better air and a 1.5 sixty off the brake. great job

Thanks guys. I know the car is much more capable in better conditions. I ran last night at 75-80 dragway in Monrovia MD. It is an old track with TERRIBLE prep. It is an NHRA track but I think the track mph record is only in the mid 200's cause the track is hurting and the shutdown is short.

I am really thinking of doing a TSP or LG head/cam package once I get a different rear in it that I can lower the gear ratio but right now I am hitting the limiter in third at the stripe off the bottle.

93LS1RX7 Why did you use the 2004r vs the 4l60e? 11's is fast for all stock. You might want to put a cam in there soon. I have the C2 cam, stock heads and have seen a best of 11.1@123mph in my 72 240z. I am looking at building a 93 LS1 rx7, do you have any pics?

Yes I have pics but no where to host them.

I went with the 200-4r because:

A) I originally had a T56 so my ecu wasnt setup to run an auto tranny.
B) I have never heard a thing about a fast car with a 4l60e that lasted.
C) There are 9 second GN's that run this exact trans.
D) I can put a transbrake on a 200-4r and I dont know if it is possible with a 4l60e.
E) It is smaller and lighter but still retains OD.

Believe me I want to put a cam and heads on the car so I can spin it and really make use of the LS1 potential but I am torn between getting a paint job and getting a H/C package. I actually had a guy say last night that he would rather go fast than look good which I totally agree with but my front bumper is primer and looks like hell.

Nice times RX-7, the 200-4R is a GREAT transmission.

Go fast FIRST, then look good. If you're not worried about
it looking like a show car, it's not hard to prep, primer and paint
something as small as a bumper. Paint matching is an exact science
these days.

Great runs. If you want to send them to me I'll host some pics for you.

Wilwaxu where do you race at? I am local to you and havent seen many 10 sec Fbods running around here but would like too.

I am seriously considering going ahead with a TSP 231/237 H/C package which I think would put me in the low 11's or even the 10's without the spray!! Decisions decisions

There's a couple of us around here with the EFA.

I run at MIR, Mason Dixon, Capitol and Cecil County...

I'd love to see that car too!

I need to start going more often to Dixon. MIR and Cecil are sweet tracks but a long drive from Westminster.
