Default What needs to be done to get running.

Looking at a 99 TA with about 49k miles.

Stock motor and fuel system
Mainly suspension mods on it

Supposedly been sitting uncranked for 4 years with at least half a tank of fuel in it. Engine oil, transmission, and gear oil were all Royal Purple.

I figured at least replace the battery, drain the tank and replace the fuel pump and fuel filter. Replace the tranny fluid and filter and gear oil. Probably tires eventually.

Do you guys think the fuel lines or rail or injectors will need to be replaced?

Anything else?

replaced? No way. Drain the fuel and run some cleaner through it. Drain and flush all the fluids and pull the pans to clean everything and you should be good to go.

I haven't paid any money for this car yet.

But I did pump the gas out and put two gallons of fresh 93 with some Stabil and an ounce of Seafoam in it.

I put jumper cables on the "dead as a door nail" battery. Was hoping to be able to hear the fuel pump but I can't hear anything over the headlight motors grinding.

Is there a way to tell if the pump is working? Isn't there a schrader valve on the fuel rail or something?

Maybe turn the key to run and open the valve to see if it's getting fuel?

If theres no current going to the pump, it isnt going to work. You need to get a known good battery. The pump is powered by electric current, so without that you can wish on a shooting star but it wont help.

Wasn't sure if a jump start would be enough to get it to turn over even with a dead battery.
