Default LONESTAR RACEWAY in Sealy, TX (35 mi. West of Houston)

We are looking to re-open Lonestar Raceway which is currently an 1/8 mile dragstrip about 35 min. west of Houston. The track is currently closed.

We plan to make the track longer and make it 1/4 mile. We are also interested in adding a road course at some point.

What would you like to see to make this the best dragstrip in the Houston area? Your feedback would be appreciated.

Thank god ya'll are lookin to re-open....i live in columbus but go to college in college station and its was nice to come home to that track and have a little fun on the weekends. I think the 1/4 mile would help a lot too....the 1/8 just didn't give you quite enough room to have fun in my opinion. I've never been on a road course but i think that would be a blast!!! Good luck with opening it back up!!! I will definately be out there if it happens!!

As in THE JOHN HENNESSEY of Viper/Mopar Fame? That would be terriffic if you decide to open up Lonestar again. There are a lot of folks from Bellville, Sealy, Hempstead, Columbus, Brookshire, Katy, and so on that look to that track for hot rodding! A road course would be great! An all out motor complex between San Antonio and Baytown would definately bring the business. Please keep us informed!

Oh yeah, maybe an onsite machine shop ?

How about a non sanctioned track so that the truely fast "street racers" can run without a cage. I'm tired of getting kicked out of HRP.

you get kicked out of HRP for running 13's?

We plan to be very racer friendly and let people run their cars without worrying about getting kicked out.

I hope you guys can revise/reopen that track. I've been there many times during past car club bashes, but to be honest I never really cared for that track. Lanes were narrow, the water box wasn't wide enough to drive around it (on radials), and the pits and staging areas were kind of small.

When I lived in downtown Houston, the drive to Sealy was just as far as HRP. HRP being a world class track, for the same entry fee, made it the priority.

yea if you did this it would be great, there are many people that would like it for the fact that alot of people dont really care for the 1/8 mile and hrp is a good 50-60 minute drive with no traffice from my area. Road course i have never been on but i would try it out if it was there

Would be great to see it opened, especially with some improvements.

It's a lot closer to Austin than HRP and would allow Austin racers to run H-town cars without having to drive over 3 hours each way.

Yeah, we have SAR, but few H-town folks make it all the way out there with any regularity. Sealy is more of a mid-point between the 2 cities.

I'd definitely be in favor.

That would be awesome to see it re-open... I live in Katy an it would be alot closer... rather than ALWAYS going to HMP or HRP for little test passes
I think another 1/4 mile track would be great!

Please do this.

Revise the drag strip AND a road course. I am there!!!

I am into drag racing but I truly think it is more fun to learn how to turn your car while it is traveling at high speeds...or any speed for that matter.

If you build a road course make sure its
1)cheaper than TWS
2)better surface than TWS
3)push to get national events there(ALMS, SCCA, NASA, ect.)
Im down for the road course more than anything.
Might want to post that on www.frrax.com, a good number of texans are on that site too.
