Default EDELBROCK LSX 430 HP cam - no tune required

EDELBROCK LSX 430 HP cam "no tune required"

For those of you who would like a little more power but not all the added expense of having to retune this is perfect.

Designed for a "no tuning required" camshaft upgrade in 1997 and later LS1/LS6/LS2 based GM engines, the Edelbrock RPM 430HP camshaft delivers 433 HP and 421 Ft/Lbs. of Torque without touching your factory tune. This combination of high lift, low duration and wide lobe separation delivers the performance you want while maintaining great low speed idle and drivability in automatic or manual

573" I / .580" E 207° I / 220° 118° [Performance (as tested on 5.7L 2001 LS6 engine): 433.6 HP @ 6000 RPM / 421.9 Ft/Lbs of Torque @
transmission cars

$365 plus shipping

TO go with it: PAC 1218 beehive springs

PAC is the original manufacturer for the Comp 918s until CC decided to go to another manufacturer (and we have seen problems since). These are beehive springs and drop right into the LS1 heads.

The 1218s (CC918 equiv) for $145 shipped. This spring is good to .600 lift
And the 1518s are nitrided and good to .650 lift and those are $245 shipped. You do not need to change seats or seals, these are drop in replacement springs.

I also offer a cam swap tool rental, if you purchase the cam and spring package, you can use them for free. You pay shipping and deposit.

Intresting that no tune is required..Does it throw any codes? Hows the AFR across the board? Also, any dyno graphs?

Seeing how a stock LS6 cam is 205/218 .551/.548 117.5* and this one is 208/220 .573/.580 118* I can see why no tune is needed. For all practical purposes, this grind is like putting longer ratio rockers on an LS6 cam. Actually, you'd get more intake and the same exhaust lift from 1.8 rockers on the stock LS6 grind.

I'd like to see a head to head comparison between the stock LS6 and this cam or some RWHP numbers since everyone is so used to them now days instead of @ the transmission.

These cams feature more aggressive profiles than conventional cams without excessive valve overlap. Roller tappets reduce friction and virtually eliminate break-in problems. Intended for use with OEM or Edelbrock hydraulic roller tappets. Dyno testing has resulted in 25HP gain over stock!

You would have to ask the advertising guru's at Edlebrock that question. They developed it and tested it, I'm just selling it along with a great deal on valve springs to do the upgrade.

Some poeple arent looking to add the cost of tuning expenses and titanium retainers. They would like a near stock idle with more power and not have to wait until the car gets into its power band. Even a 224 cam doesnt kick until 1800-2200 rpms. Some people want more power right from the idle and dont care to rev past 6000 rpms. Also this is perfect for people with high mileage ls1 who want a little more power without having to destroy the short block at 7000 rpms.

This is the perfect solution for those who want more power without the added expenses or issues that come with bigger cams.

Honestly this is a great beginner package deal for someone. If you haven’t done a cam install before and want to get your hands dirty this is the way to go.

I provide the cam install tools and am available for what ever help you might need. pm's telephone I'll walk you through it.

You can use your stock retainers and there is no real reason not to with this cam. The PAC springs are a drop in and the tool I provide is the best there is for doing the job. Crane dual spring tool.

Its not a cam your spinning past stock rpms so the oil pump concerns are pretty much alleviated. Some models were prone to failure and its never a bad idea to replace a high mileage pump from those year cars.. IIRC 98-99?

IMO this is about as simple a do it yourselfer for the beginner as there can be. Perfect for beginner enthusiasts who want to get their hands dirty and learn with minimal risk and expense.

They are quoting stock Z06 numbers it seems... 405 bhp + 25 bhp = 430 bhp. That equals ~365rwhp or so.

Their saying 25whp gains.. so 430hp with 15% loss equals 365.5whp so subtract 25 and your get ~340whp which is a very reasonable full bolt-on number.

thats pretty good if you dont want/have the funds for a $300-$500 tune although with one it might even pick up some more. Also being stealthy and very streetable is a major plus..

340whp=400bhp so not just a ZO6, but bolt on ls1's
