bolt hole in head got stripped.... what do?
okay, it's not a chevy, it's a 1970 olds, but i figure the solution would be the same regardless.
we were replacing the stock intake manifold and carb on a 1970 442 w/ a BB 455, and the far front passenger side bolt hole on the head got stripped.
i had hand tightened it down till the bolt head was hitting the washers, so it wasn't cross threaded. when i started to actually tq it down, i might have gotten to 15-20ftlb before it decided it was gonna give way.
anyways, im looking at the bolt hole, and it looks a bit different, like maybe it had been sleeved or heliocoiled before or something. the top of the bolt hole has 2 slits, one on each side, while the rest just have threads the whole way.
i've tried to tap it, but i cant get the tap started. any suggestions?
