Need help on motor decision.
I am new to this website, but I own a 1968 Chevelle. I just completely restored it and put a 383 stroker in it with a powerglide transmission and 3.73 gear ratio in the rearend. I just now bought a 1972 heavy chevy chevelle. there was no motor or tranny. I believe I am wanting to make it a drag racer, but yet I still want to be able to take my girl cruising. what kind of motor (small block or big block) would be a good motor for drag racing yet cruising every once in awhile. This heavy chevy weighs a bit more than my 68. I am just wanting some opinions, and some advice and help on specs.
Thanks.
Thanks.

LS engines are where it’s at for power/street ability, but I’m still prone to BBC for Muscle Cars. My 496CI Pump Gas 675HP Chevelle is daily driven (weather permitting), gets decent fuel mileage, capable of low 10's and that BBC just looks right in it. I however will be picking up another Chevelle for a Protour type build and be doing an LS build up real soon. You can’t go wrong either, way...it’s a personal preference.
