There numerous ways to build a big block for a 550-600 horsepower set-up. You can buy a 572 crate engine and have the power you want already set-up turn key. You could also build a standard 454-based 496 stroker with a production iron block and out-of-the-box aluminum heads with the right cam and induction to make the power you want for much less $. An aluminum block will cost you some big coin but will save weight over an iron block. But the aluminum block is by no means necessary to make the power you want.Derek

I have a EFI 502 BBC for sale.
It made 477rwhp and 619 ft/lbs on a DynoJet.
It pushed my 4250lb truck 7.59@92mph in the 1/8th.
Very streetable.
