3352 30th Anniversary Z/28s were made in 1997 and 957 30th Anniversary SS cars were built. An additional 100 30th Anniversary Camaro SS vehicles were modified by SLP to include a 330 hp version of the LT4 engine (108 total LT4 cars were made, 100 US, 6 Canadian & 2 prototypes).

Keep in mind..................the "true" 30th Anniversary cars were artic white with hugger orange stripes, also came with artic white 5 spoke wheels and had "30th" embroidered on both front seat backs as in the pictures of mine below. You also had a choice of white leather interior or white leather with black & white houndstooth cloth inserts. These were the 30th Anniversary "limited build" cars and these are the cars that Z28/2002 is referring to above with information that is derived from the Camaro White Book. Many folks think that all '97 Camaros are 30th Anniversary cars however, they are not. They were just built in the 30th year of Camaro production. Note in my signature below my SS build # (#2091) and my 30th Anniversary build # (#742).
The 1997 LT1 30th Anniversary SS Camaros were offered in a Hardtop, T-Top and convertible. Below is a picture of my friend Leo's LT1 T-Top with the houndstooth cloth seat inserts:
The Z/28's were offered in a T-top and convertible. I don't believe the Z/28's were offered in a hardtop (Andy, correct me if I am wrong). Below is my friend Roger's 1997 30th Anniversary Z/28 convertible (notice the wheels are different than on the SS model Camaro even though they are still an artic white 5 spoke wheel):
And the 30th Anniversary LT4 SS Camaro was only offered in a hardtop. Below is my friend Robin's #62 30th Anniversary LT4 SS:
Same thing happened in 2002 as well. The 35th Anniversary cars were red with the checkered stripes on the hood such as the modified 35th LE Nicky Camaro SS below. For 2002 Chevrolet refined it a little bit by referring to these cars at 35th LE (Limited Edition) cars and the cars that GMMG modified were referred to as 35th PE (Performance Edition) cars.

thanks for the thurough response. i have a 1997 30th Anniv SS #3011, with the number being so high i assumed over 3000 were built but in reality that just means over 3000 SS's were built in 1997. The car belongs to my dad but it needs a new interior ( carpet and seats ) and the rear bumper needs to be replaced but the car runs like a champ.
Where can i find new authentic seat covers? He has the hounds tooth interior.
Another question! Can you answer why some camaro's ( i've noticed the earlier one's ) have the all white leather seats and some have the hounds tooth?

Yes, the 30th Anniversary Z/28's were offered with a hardtop. I have the t-tops, but my buddy's parents have the hardtop version. Just to answer your question.
P.S.~ Those are very clean cars in your pics! Props to the owners!

I found this information a few months back. It appears to be a fax sheet sent by SLP (on the left hand side of the sheet you can see it says - Sent by: SLP Engineering, Troy) on 09/02/97. Anyway, I hope this helps!

I do believe the 2002 35th Anniversary car such as the modified Nickey Camaro SS that you had mentioned is a 1 of 1 car. And has over 1000 horses!!!
I may be wrong, if I am, I do apologize.

Nice looking collection you have there ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Your vert is the twin to mine except mine is an automatic instead of a 6 speed. I too have the optional exhaust, the Torsen torque sensing diff plus I have the optional engine oil cooler. I also upgraded my wheels from the 16" white ZR1 type SLP wheels to the 17" that came on the t-top and hardtop cars.

I do believe you all got it covered.
So based upon the info out there:
A GRAND total of 3038 1997 Camaro SS were built.
Out of that number there were, 957 30th Anniversary SS built . . .
Leaving 2081 standard SS's . . .
I'll need to dig out the white book, to find out if these break downs include Canadian SS . . . As stated before there were a total of 108 LT4 SS's . . . 100 for USA, 6 for Canada and 2 prototypes . . .
And since we are showing off 30th SS's . . . heres mine . . . LT4 SS #006 of 100 and Hendrick SS #5 of 9:

Leather Bucket Seats ------> $499.00
So......................to answer your question, when the car was ordered either by the person buying the car or by the person at the dealership ordering the car for inventory, they opted for the "leather interior" which was an additional cost vs. just ordering the houndstooth interior which I assume would have been the standard interior and no additional cost.

that would make sense, i didnt know if it was something they decided to start offering half way through the build. ours is a houndstooth car. it'll need new carpet and seat covers and a rear bumper then a proper detailing.

Thanks! But i would trade all 3 for that ZL1 lol
I have been looking for a set of white 17's for a couple of years but no luck, guess i might powder coat a set of gray ones cause the verts dont look right with 16's

Mine is build #502 and I bought her from the original owner. It's a hardtop w/ 6spd. The guy I got her from ordered it without the stripes. I don't know if they were taken off at the dealership or if came from SLP like that. Alot of people see it and think it's a 96. As far as I know she's pretty rare...

Google found this thread, so I've registered here.
I've a 1997 30th Anniv SS. 6sp manual and white leather interior (starting to look a bit the worse for wear).
Camaros are fairly rare in the UK. I like to think (without any evidence) that I have the only 30th Anniv SS on this side of the atlantic...
