dummy antenna question
ok so i removed my antenna motor, but still want easy radio connection. i dont do anything electronic, but i believe the large black wire i disconnected, that has a large silver coaxial-like plug at the end, is the antenna signal back to the head unit? if so, can i wire this somehow to metal on my car to get a signal somehow? otherwise id like to get a hideaway antenna... anyone wired these in the trunk? thanks!

you can pretty much do anything you want. Play around with each of the things that you listed and see how the reception is, it will not be as good as it was but you might get it to a point that you can deal with, especially if you don't listen to the radio much.

A hidden antenna in the trunk will not be so hot because there are metal fenders in the rear. Check out this thread: https://ls1tech.com/forums/stereo-el...m-antenna.html It describes a great hidden antenna and methods of install. If you have the stock radio, all you need to do is unplug the antenna at the back of the radio and then use an adapter plug to connect the hidden antenna in to the radio.
