I have a 2000 TA that has a factory Monsoon tape deck/12disc changer.

The changer has been removed from the car prior to purchase, no idea where its at and the factory tape deck display has gone out.

Can I purchase a stock Monsoon CD player deck from a 2000 TA , and plug it in with 0 problems ? My question basically is : Is the factory plug in harness the same for a tape deck and cd player, both being a Monsoon unit from the same model year car.

Yes you can as both have the same connectors.

Just MAKE SURE the Monsoon CD player is from an '00 - '02. Some used parts places and eBay say '97-'02 Camaro/Firebird Monsoon CD player when they list the units for sale and allthough they LOOK identical, the '97-'99 Monsoon CD players won't control the changer. However ALL Monsoon tape decks from '97-'02 WILL control the stock changer.

i own a 2000 ram air ta ws6, it has a fact cd changer in it,, i have the window sticker and it says something about a monsoon 10 spkr sound system and it says something about a monsoon tape deck,,but the car has a cd player in the dash that says delco pontiac,,it controls the cd changer but i want to make my car original,, i want to buy a monsoon tape deck,,do you have a monsoon tape deck that i can buy?? how can you tell if your car was made with a tape deck head unit, or a cd head unit in the dash

The RPO code (option code on the door sticker) for Monsoon with cassette head unit is W54. For Monsoon with CD head unit it is W55.
