Default Question on 98t/a ls1 alternator

I have a 98 t/a and my alt is a 102amp alternator and i want to bump it up to a 140 or 160 amps because i have 3 stereo amps and 4 dvd screens in this car. i was told that if i bump up the factory alt it will overheat and burn out faster than a stock alt.. they said i could not use an alt off a newer gto or truck with more amperage because the tunnel casing for cold air induction on the back of my alternator would not fit onto the back of the other alternators and it to would overheat . i keep killing alternators and i would like to know if anyone might have any idea's on this. thanks

I've had a 200 amp alterstart alternator in my car for three years now in the Florida heat and never had a problem. It doesn't even have the air shroud that the factory alternator has yet heat has never been a problem. Whoever told you those things doesn't have a clue.
