Default Car Won't Start 99 Trans Am

My 99 Trans Am will not start. This morning I went to go to work and when I got in the car the security light on the dash was lit up. I stuck the key in the ignition and in position 2 I have full power, the cluster lights up and the radio turns on. As soon as I try to crank the car the power to the dash and radio go out and just the security and check engine light are lit in the dash. I do not have a second key for my car so I have not checked to see if it is an issue with the key or the car. The transponder chip on the key is not loose or missing. Has someone run in to this before? Is there a direction I can be pointed in for diagnosis? Thanks for the help in advance.

Thanks I had just found that after posting this thread. My first search was unsuccessful, but after searching again it looks like I have a VATS issue. Looking like I need to do the resistor bypass.

Well I measured the resistance of my key and used a set of resistors to obtain the value (11300) ohms. Now when I put the key in and try to crank the car the security light flashes once per second and the car still does not crank. Any thoughts?

You did something wrong with your VATS bypass... resistors on the wrong end of the cut wires? The flashing SECURITY light indicates that the BCM isn't seeing any conection to the key (or replacement) resistor - just an open circuit.
