Default Front Speaker Replacement

I bought a set of component speakers from keeaudio on here for my 99 camaro. Question is on the front door speakers they have kinda like cardboard behind the speaker. Its thick and the current speakers in there are mounted to that. I had a 94 Z28 and they werent like it in that model but on my 99 they have this behind them. Well the cardboard is falling apart because they get wet from rain just going down in there behind the speaker. I need to get some replacement or know what I can fabircate to make them mount better. anyone ever had this issue??

I just installed new front speakers from Kee and my stock speakers were mounted to a plastic insert that was then mounted to the door with three screws. Im not sure if there is a difference between a 99 and a 02.

CDT CL-61CV speakers from Kee Audio, great replacement speakers for your camaro since you can wire them as components and they can be coaxially mounted just like stock. I have mine powered with an aftermaket 122W x 2 channel @ 4ohm amplifier using the supplied crossovers and they sound great. Im one of the people that says all you need for good sound is components in the front doors and a subwoofer in the hatch area. No need for sail panel or hatch speakers.

In your front door did you have a plastic piece or did you have cardboard to mount them to?
