I sell Kicker so I am not exactly an unbiased opinion but I think both brands make good speakers and are pretty even with each other. When it comes to Subwoofers though Polk doesn't really compete IMHO.

I have a pair of Polk DB series components up front and a pair of MM series in the passenger speakers, with an Alpine Type R 10 in a stealthbox.
The polks sound great in my opinion, very clear and crisp... also you can feed them 100w RMS... so maybe the Polk 1100.5 amp as well?

Had kicker stuff in my trans am....it was ok. Not impressed considering it was there SS top of the line components. Installed alot of polk stuff at work and I have all Polk home audio. I would say polk is better imo.

I've had Polk 6.75" speakers in my Camaro for a few years, and I've been quite pleased...I don't have the most discerning ear in the world, but they've worked flawlessly, and are loud enough with a 50x4 Alpine amp that they make my ears start to hurt. I think they have very reasonable sound quality considering the price range I was looking at...

As far as subs go kicker I think would be better. My old acura internal speakers were all polk audio. They had a very crisp and clear sound, definate upgrade for any car system. Little pricey but you get what you pay for.
