Which sub/amp combo will work best with my MTX stealth box?

Which sub/amp combo will work best with my MTX stealth box? I have an 10" MTX box (.6 cubic feet) I have decided to go with an Alpine Type R subwoofer. I'm not sure which one to go with. On ebay, all three are pretty much $130 shipped. So price is not really an issue.

The Alpine amp will definitely do the job, but at $500, I'm thinking twice about it. Is there another (much cheaper) amp that will give me a better bang for my buck?

According to Alpine's specs, the 2 series would be a better fit for the 0.6 ft^3 MTX Box. Although neither specify a required optimum volume nor driver displacement volume. They both give you a range with a specific net internal volume. Following that recommendation is why I would go with the 2 series (1042 - assuming the N.I.V. calculates those variables).

1043/1023 Owner's Manual - 3 Series (Recommends N.I.V. of 0.50 ft^3 - Pg. 2)
The amplifier specs are the same for 2 & 4 Ohm loads, 1000W x 1. Since that is quite a bit more than the rated capacity for the subs, I would get the 4 Ohm DVC 2 series sub and run the V.C.'s in series to get an 8 Ohm load to try and drop the power down to 500W. You may need to call Alpine/Crutchfield/Kee to verify if the amp will drop to around that power level with an 8 Ohm load and to make sure running an 8 Ohm load is safe for the amplifier (usually is; doesn't hurt to double check). That's what I would do anyway...

well i have had the same set up.
mtx box,type r new version sub(with the ribbed suround) and a 500w rms alpine v12 sub amp and it was very clean and loud.
the pdx amp i to much power for the sub you can get a lower power version cheaper and save some cash.
500w is perfect for that sub
