Key wont go all the way in?

Key wont go all the way in? I have a 98 Trans Am (A4) and last night I went to golf and when I went to leave the key would only go 3/4 of the way in? I tried everything from moving the shifter and turning the steering wheel and nothing worked! Have any of you changed out the ignition on these cars and whats all involved in doing it? Please help me on this one guys cause my car is parked out at this golf course.
