Mounting satellite radio antenna
Has anyone mounted their antenna to the rear windshield (inside the car)? I have tint so it will be "stealth" that way. Any reception issues for those that have done that?
Also if so is the top of the windshield or bottom of the windshield better?

I had mine mounted on the dash next to the windshield in the center. It did ok, but lost reception sometimes. I moved it to the top (outside) behind the t-tops and it now picks up great. Of course it isn't stealth in that location.

In my buddy's corvette i mounted his to the windshield. I used the sticky magnetic pad it came with. The pad is stuck to the windshield then holds the antenna bc of the magnet. He has been having it like this since 2005 with no problems.

My GPS antenna is hidden under the dash.
(That is WhiteBird00's car.)
I mounted the GPS antenna in the raised midde of the oval panel.
My XM antenna is hidden inside the hatch itself
My XM receiver is in the trunk so it was easier to mount the antenna inside the hatch.

Well, I mounted it to the rear windshield as I asked about.
Perfect reception. I just need to put it up a tiny bit higher so it doesn't show up in the rearview mirror.
I didn't want to put it in the dash because I'm going to be doing a dash swap (maybe this winter) and didn't want to rip things apart twice.

To Whitebird or VIP, if I understand that picture correctly where you have that antenna placed, is that under that plastic(or abs or whatever it is) dash? If so how do you get that off, mine is cracked and I would like to replace it as well as place my antenna there when I get the xm connectivity kit for my head unit.

errr. Never mind I found your original post stating how to remove it, I didn't think it would be that easy. However is there anything else I should know about removing it or does it pop off from that velcro and out of the positioning holes?

Its simple, remove the a-pillar covers (screw at top) than pop off the dash (held on with velcro). Be very careful though. With age the dash cover gets brittle and has sharp edges. It could shatter if you aren't careful. That is a pic of Whitebird00's car. On mine, I didn't remove the cover. I only lifted it enough to position the antenna under it.
