Default factory temp gage irratic - HELP!!

the factory water temp gage in my 95 is jumping up to 260 then dropping back low and also running normal sometimes.
It is not real because the hoses are never hot and the fans operate fine.
I've air bled the system, changed the gage cluster, pyrometer checked the actual and replaced the sender from the motor.
How can I test the gage and the sender to be sure?
What else could it be?
I noticed my fuel gage also moves like on corners or stopping and the fuel/water gages are attached by a common resistor. What the heck??
Any GM mechanics in here?

Sounds to me like you have a short in the wiring somewhere. I would bet that it's between your PCM and the gauge cluster.

That's not going to be fun to track down.
