power antenna conversion... HELP 98 t/a
Ok, i just plugged everything in and its not going up or down when turning radio off/on. I do hear a new clicking noise (just 1 click) when turning on/off. i can manually pull antenna up/down. I'm i missing a fuse or something... or is the power antenna shot? Car has stock monsoon CD player. both found in junk yard...
Thanks in advance

The antenna is connected to a plastic rack, which meshes with a gear in the antenna and wraps around a spindle as the antenna is retracted. (Kind of like a fishing reel.)
If you can move the antenna, that rack is broken and the other end is remaining wrapped around the reel. The clicking is those broken parts slapping against the gear.
Good news:
- The antenna motor is good.
- The mast can be replaced as a stand alone part.
Bad news:
- The broken end of the gear is still wrapped around the reel.
You may be able to take out the mast and get the broken end out. It might be hard or it might be easy.

no rebuild kit... the is a write up for a mast fix..... i dont think its supposed to wrap up like a fishing reel... i think there is a hole at the bottom it feed into as it retracts... i could be wrong... i just did a fixed antenna since i cant find a black retractable one
