Default Lights won't work on Climate Control Unit, easy way to tell whats wrong?

Basically at night when I turn on the lights the climate control unit won't light up. If it just needs replaced that is a quick and easy fix but I don't want to spend the money on a part if that may not be the problem. Is there a way to tell if the unit is bad before I buy a new one?

It's probably the bulbs. They are #74 bulbs that can be difficult to remove without breaking but they're certainly cheaper than the entire control panel.

Ok thanks, I will look into that. When I had it apart I don't recall seeing any bulbs. How many do I need. The defrost light still works.

There is 2 or 3. It's hard to notice they are going out until all of them are gone.
