Default High pitch ringing even with no HU on. Bad ground? Amp failure?

So I have a 98 Z with the Monsoon amp and over a year ago bought Kee Audio's level 2.5 package. The past month or so, when I turn the head unit on- even before music plays, there is a high pitch ringing that instantly starts and persists along with the music. Due to this and losing my phone whose Spotify app I used to play through the bluetooth head unit (Pioneer) I pretty much stopped trying to listen to music.

I recently got another phone and upon turning on the head unit, not only was the high pitch ringing back, I could barely hear the music even when turning up the receiver way past where I needed for the music to be loud previously.

I did some searching on this and most seem to say the ringing can be a bad ground. Is there any particular place to look? I am not familiar with audio equipment. And is the too quiet music also related to something loose or has the amp gone to ****?

Where would that be? I'm pretty audio illiterate.

Bump. Never got an answer to this and have been dealing with it since it is an intermittent problem that doesn't annoy me all the time.
