Kicker amp question???
a friend of mine has a Kicker 50 watt amp... it says 25 watt per channel... but he tells me its a competition amp... I looked at the spec sheet and it said something like 651 watts @ 1 ohm... is that true... if so is it only 25 watt per channel on 4 ohms... the amp is about the size of the corvette coil covers... seems awfully big for a 50 watt amp... its a couple years old I think... it is a rough black powdercoat something like the old punch amps... one side is curved smooth and the other is a sharp edge step... I forgot the model number... if anybody has any info let me know or how much you think its worth... thanks

Its whats called a cheater amp most likely. A few years ago alot of manufacterers used to make them. Basically they had classes set up by wattage. But the wattage was to be measured at 4 ohms. But they would run them to lower ohm load making more power and basically cheating there way to a win. The rules have been changed to not allow this anymore. What were you planning on driving a sub or speakers?

Hard to tell not knowing how old it is and what condition its in. I would offer him $200. As far as what subs to drive the L7s require too much power for that amp. Thats barely enough power to drive 1 sub. I would look at the L5s.
