defective deck

defective deck is there any way to test to see if a deck is defective? im installing a deck in my mr2 and its all wired up but its not turning on. i used harness adaptors so there's no splicing and everything is labled so its not brain sugery.

Check to make sure the ignition and the power wires both have +12v.
Also make sure that the deck has good ground.
Some head units also have a fuse on the back that you can check.
