First New Install on '00 SS
All I wanted was a nicer looking head unit, and a little better sound. I did the head unit, and it all snowballed out of control from there. <img border="0" alt="[jester]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_jest.gif" />
I then decided that a budget system would be okay, and within my means. I settled on keeping under $2.5K, and stuck to it.
I ended up doing the labor myself with Jeff helping out, and it actually turned out great as far as sound goes. Here's what I put in.
Alpine CDA-7893 head unit
MB Quart 6.5" seperates for the front speakers
Boston Acoustics 6.5" co-axials for the rear speakers
JL Audio W3-12 dual voicecoil subs
Sealed sub enclosure
Rockford Fosgate 500S amp for subs (500w RMS/1@4ohm load bridged)
Rockford Fosgate 300X 4-channel amp for other speakers
1-farad capacitor w/ digital voltage meter
Ground distribution block
Positive distribution block
Here's a pic of the install:

It turned out pretty decent, and I can easily remove the amp board and sub enclosure for the track. I'm still making the cover to hide the amps, and that will be made of shading material so the amps can still breath well, yet the system is hidden from the outside view.
Remember, this is a budget install so please don't tell me of thousands of watts you guys have in your cars and stuff, because I can't afford it. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Looks real slick and clean!! I would do something like that in my Z but I have t-tops. I'm going to remove my spare and build a sealed box in that area and throw a boston sub in there <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> Just don't have the time to do it now. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" />
