Default Interior Light Question

one of the lights on the door panel by the handle went out. I got a new bulb for it and replaced it but now it doesn't light up as bright as it did before. The bulb doesn't even light up the switches anymore. I had trouble getting the old bulb out as it broke while I was trying to pull it out. It left the base behind and I ened up breaking it up to get it all out. Is it possible that I damaged the socket enough to cause a voltage drop to make the light burn a little dim? I have checked and I'm using the correct bulb, #74 I think (I don't have the package in front of me)

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Try other bulbs I doubt you damaged anything will taking it out. if you think you damaged it and it isnt getting power to it test it with a dc/volts reader.

I changed the bulb and it still didn't get any brighter. I guess I'll have to check it out with a tester
