Default LS1 HU to LT1 HU????

I have a 96 LT1 and my HU is throwing the E20 error message... I tried cleaning it but didnt work.... i have had this happen before and on its own it will correct itself.

My question is: Can i directly replace my stock 96 HU for a stock Monsoon HU???
Will all the connections be the same etc....????

Thanks

As long as the 96 HU isn't a Bose unit, the two are completely interchangeable. You may have to swap the side mounting brackets.

Bose units were available only in Camaros from 93-96 so if your 96 is a Firebird then it's not Bose. If it's a Camaro you'll find option code UU8 for the cassette Bose or U1T for the CD version. The Bose system was available with three or five speakers which included a single subwoofer in the left rear trim panel in the hatch area. If you don't have the speaker grille in that trim panel then it's not a Bose system.

It'll work, the only thing that may be different is the steering wheel control hook up and it probably wont be on your car. I have a 01 Monsoon Radio in my 93, on the Firebirds all the radios are interchangeable. The plug for the steering wheel controls may just be a 93 specific thing since 94+ all have the same style head unit, just not monsoon for the LT1 years.
