Gauge cluster went crazy and all lights came on for a second HELP!!!!!!!
I floored it @ 2k rpm and my gauge cluster went crazy for about a second. All warning lights momentarily came on and then shut off. Also, according to the gas gauge, I had half a tank left, but right after that, it plunged down to a 1/4 tank.
I didn't drive my car for a month and my battery ended up dying.
So, a couple of days ago I replaced the stock battery with an Orbital 06 battery from Napa

Any idea what is going on?
Thanks,
Joel

The last time this happened to my car it turned out to be a loose cable to the battery
check to see if your positve and negative cables are tight on the battery

I know it is a totally different car but it probably works on the same principle. My parents had a 01 caravan that everything went crazy after jumpstarting (battery was weak). According to the mechanic, the battery died in the heat and wouldn't take a charge, so the computer "thought" it needed more juice and kept asking for more. Thing is, the power wouldn't go in the battery but it had to go someplace, so it went wherever it could and made the instrument panel go crazy. Changed the battery and all was well again (after the bill to take apart the dash and spin the tach back, it had bounced around crazily and then got stuck all the way on the other side past 6k).
So yeah, if your battery is bad or your connections aren't tight it can cause strange behavior.
