Default Anyone familiar with the fosgate p6002?

I bought my trans am a few months ago now, and it came with one of these amps, as well as 2 sony xplod 12'' subs. Now ill admit I barely know anything when it comes to sound systems, but I was wondering if anyone could fill me in on this setup? Is it just a decent affordable system or is something a little above ordinary? Heres a pic for those interested:

im not too sure about the amp, but rockford fosgate is usually a top line audio brand. the sony's are just your average sub; cheap but effective. id say ur setup is nothing special, but its not too bad either.

The sonys are a little on the lower end, rockford is middle of the line maybe a bit lower end IMO. Personally id move the amp to the bottom of the well and get a subthump box to finish it off

If you are looking to buy new stuff then RF is very overpriced and overrated. There is a lot better out there for cheaper or just as much. if you are just wondering how yours is its about average...ive had a few diff brands and RF was the most expensive and the least impressive

I'm not really looking to improve it, as audio was the last thing on my mind when buying a car, it was just a cool bonus to get. This being the first real system I've ever had probably set my expectations a little high. Music just sounds so much damn better with something like this. Thanks for all the input, it'll probably help when i go to upgrade it someday....after all the performance mods are done.

I pretty much agree with the above. The subs are low end but will be ok for now assuming they work properly. The amp is RF's middle of the line at best but it should hit pretty hard. I've always liked RF amps for bass applications. Your amp is sufficient.
I agree with pentavolvo, a nice 2 12" enclosure...possibly a T-top box would be cool, with that amp and upgrade the subs. That would give you pretty decent low end.

Agreed. Though nothing special, you could make it appear more special by cleaning it up. You aren't necessarily looking to upgrade, but maybe at least sell the subs/box (looks like they came matched together) and put that money towards a nicer well box (if desirable) or maybe a stealth box if you think that would be enough. Though two 12"s is nice....that box needs to go, and that amp and wires can't be sitting there like that. The amp sitting there also makes your car a potential target for theft.

I had the same amp and they are nothing but a peice of ****. I had to take the amp back 20 times and im a professional installer and rockford tried to blame everything on me and im like i install rockford into peoples vehicles for you. im sorry the only thing rockford makes good is the subs id go with a memphis but thats my opion. Theres gonna be alote of people out there that is gonna disagree with me but like i say we all have different opinions.

I have used Rockford since 1988. My first amp was a Punch 45. I also used and installed the Punch 75, 150, Power 1000, and even a few little P250's. Very good amplifiers. I currently use a Rockford Fosgate Power series 600.5 5-channel. It is also a very good amplifier and I bought it used. It has never given me any trouble what so ever.
That being said, I have never used that year RF amp and have been told that they were not that great during that time period. I do know Best Buys carried them back then and I listened to a few different ones there and they sounded pretty good. As far as reliability goes for that model, I would not know. I do know that the older models are very good amps...older than the one he has pictured.

i like rockford, they are good amps/subs and they look good to boot. I have 2 RF amps and a 10" punch sub, hits just enough for my system. Nothing booming
