By the way, posting a kill for a 2V GT against an SS Camaro LS1 car is not a disgrace! It is street racing at its finest!. The more powerful car does not always end up winning. The street is not prepped and the more powerful car usually has the hardest time hooking up. Seen it too many times. I think with street racing, the car with less power always has the possibility of winning and that is enough to get him to put up his money. Just my take on this.

My old ms4 car when cam only trapped 92-93mph.. my buddies 5.3 f13 car trapped high high 80 with occasional 90.. I cut bottom 1.6 short times he cut bottom 1.7.. I ran mid 7s he ran mid to high 7s.. EVERY time we ran from a roll (we did everything from 20 to 60) he would jump out about a car to car and half and hold me off. All of our races went to about 125..
Mph doesn't tell you much.. Sure a huge gap like 93 and 85 it is clear or 123 and 115.. but 2-4 mph in the 1/8 or 1/4 is a toss up from a roll. He had a better mid range car.
BTW, we also made within 3rwhp of each other.
Rolls and traps dont matter any way you break it down. Et is all that matters at the end of the day.

Dear God... Some of these LT1 guys on here make me glad I'm selling my LT1 soon enough for something much nicer. At least then I won't have to be associated with idiots

Here is what I am talking about...Putting gears in car will net you a better ET (assuming you can now hook and go). How did this happen?? Did the gears increase your HP or torque? No. (actually you loose Hp) It simply moved your torque curve and allowed your max torque to appear earlier in your rpm range which will get you down the track faster. However, if you look at your trap, you will not see that much of a differnce. Therefore, what I am trying to say is that you car is faster in the 1/8 or 1/4 but your car did not make more power. Your trap can not be manipulated like ETs can. It is a solid indicator that can only change as your power (or weight) changes.
I have raced people that make 40rwhp more than me and pulled them by two lengths from 40-130.. I have lost by a length to people that make less rwhp and weigh more than me.

I understand what you are saying completely. I have owned and drove in races from bone stock to bone stock with nitrous to h/c cars etc etc and everything inbetween. I have seen enough races (while knowing what both cars mods Dyno numbers and et/traps were) to know that trap speed means little to nothing in any race as long as we are talking with 5mph of eah other.
