300zx vs 392 challenger and me following
A friend brought his car out to run this challenger. I had another friend walk up to him and ask him if he wanted to runa gto. The kid said he doesn't want to race me. By buddies response, yes he does right now. Kid said no he doesnt. He can race it at the track one day. I turned to him and said anytime he was ready i would meet him at steele.
So about 45 minutes later the 300zx and challenger leave out. I followed in him in the gto with a friend to see how it was going to turn out. They decided on a dig and a roll to start out. We get out to the spot and they setup for the dig run. I get behind the challenger expecting him to win the dig. Boy was i wrong, the 300z left out hard on him from the dig. I have to change lanes and hit the brakes behind the challenger so i wouldn't rear end him when i grab second. I'm still easing up next to him, even after hitting the brakes. the 300zx wins by 3+ cars easy from the dig..
They turn around line up from the roll(40) and honk it off. They nail it and i'm right there with them holding my own. The 300xz starts to finally pull the challenger again.
They decided to go for another dig run. This time i'm starting behind the 300zx. They honk it off(i'm behind a car and a half) and go. The 300zx is starting to slowly pull and i'm pulling the challenger down. I end up coming from behind and getting up to his door and shut down. The 300zx ended up with about the same again.
The 300zx is suppose to make 400+rwhp. The 392 challenger is stock from what i know and my car has intake, weight reduction and headers. All cars were manuals.
Guy still wouldn't talk to me or wanted to lineup with me at all.

Dont know how much the 300zx weighs but im sure its a good bit less than the 392 and making around the same power. Sounds like some puppy kicking to me, which is cool. We all do it here n there. lol Good kill...

Hmm. Gotta admit I'm leary as hell about claiming a header only LS2 GTO is hanging with - less yet walking - a 392 hemi car. That 392 should be putting car lengths on you from a roll (anything can happen from a dig). Trust me, I ran enough normal (?6.1?) SRT8 challengers and chargers when I was boltons like you too know. Hell, do you even have a vavaram or svede CAI? Tune?

Let me put it this way: there is alot of factors playing into this race that you probably are unaware of, that affected the outcome. You beat the GUY, no doubt. But not the car. A well driven 392 will beat you from just about any speed or in any conditions. Period. Just warning you so that you do not get cocky and do like I did (lose a race you swore you would not lose). Trust me, humble pie tastes like **** no matter how graciously or eloquently you manage to handle it. Kinda like brocolli.

I'm not cocky, there is always a better driver or faster car.. losing is all part of it.
Baxom i stayed a car and a half back at the start to ensure i wouldn't cause a issue at the start..
