A few months back the 5.7 in this commander kicked a rod, so it was swapped out for a 6.1 out of a charger... Apparently this charger had a couple things done to it, because this motor is nasty. K1 rods, forged pistons, ported heads, forged crank, ARP 2000 rod bolts.

Not really a nasty engine at all. The 6.1's come with forged cranks already. They just added pistons and rods. With the ported heads it MIGHT have added 30rwhp if a good job was done. I have no idea why it would have ported heads and a stock cam tho. Kinda silly.
Great races tho!! That regal is the definition of a sleeper.

If it is stroked then that thing is dying for a larger cam. If he were to put one id bet he'd gain 70rwhp or more...

The goal was a stock 6.1L, however as was learned buying junkyard parts is a crapshoot. Now we have something on our hands that resembles a build for boost. Turbo could be in the future, but not until we have another DD. He gets to choose the next vehicle so until you see videos of a CTS-V racing that Jeep, no turbo.
But, it gets up and goes. It was tuned well, it runs great and the fuel economy has stayed the same or maybe even improved with the swap. One of those "When life closes one door it opens a window". Except in this case it was "When rods shoot through the block causing thousands of dollars in damage, upgrade!"
